About MPI

The Mineral Policy Institute (MPI) is an Australian based, not-for-profit non-government organisation specialising in research, capacity building, advocacy and campaigning to prevent environmentally and socially destructive mining, minerals and energy projects and to protect and enhance the natural environment.

  • We work to ensure that the mining, minerals and energy industries comply with the principles of social justice, human rights and ecologically sustainable development.
  • We work with communities and their organisations to promote and protect the rights of those faced with the environmental, cultural and economic impacts of mining, minerals and energy projects.
  • We promote equitable and efficient mineral and energy use and reduced resource consumption.

We have extensive networks in Australia, Asia, the Pacific and internationally.
