Volunteering - a testimonial
Here are some examples of what volunteering can do for you.
I began a part-time voluntary program with MPI in March 2004. Since being
part of the team I have been given:
- the opportunity to see beyond the surface of the average person's
perception of environmental-mining disasters,
- the chance to interact with and learn from highly qualified, passionate
professionals in a variety of fields,
- the opportunity to hone my research and communication skills with
practical applications,
- the honour of co-authoring scientific publishment and press releases for
international audiences, and
- the fantastic feeling that my efforts have helped others.
As a science graduate I cannot stress how important and relevant these
experiences have been in furthering my career and life goals. The time I have
given at MPI has been some of the most constructive and fulfilling since
graduating. I wholly recommend anyone with a keen interest in the events
happening in the world around us today to volunteer a small amount of their time
to help MPI help others.
