MPI currently focuses on mining in the Pacific which includes Australia, Micronesia, Melanesia and Polynesia, though we have networks throughout the world. In the past we have worked in Africa, Indonesia and Europe. See the about page for more information.

I invite you to be a part of the MPI team that helps mining affected communities by donating or volunteering.

Donating to MPI

Receiving almost no government or corporate funding, MPI utilises a team of volunteers and relies on donations to fund our work, much of which comes from the community in annual or monthly donations. So if you believe in supporting good work and can make either a one-off donation or can spare $20 or more a month then please donate through Our Communites, a free and secure online donation facility.

Donations over $2 are tax deductible. Please contact Charles Roche on  if you wish to volunteer or to discuss a donation.

Volunteering for MPI

The Mineral Policy Institute is looking for talented volunteers to assist our work with mining affected communities and environments. If any of the following interest you then please contact Charles Roche.
    1.    Research into mining issues, practices, mining companies, banks, investors, environments.
    2.    Specialist assistance with assessing mining proposals activities – many small groups in Australia and overseas can make a big difference if they could get a little pro bono professional assistance.
    3.    Help with the Mining Monitor, write, edit, administer.
    4.    Media Monitors – people anywhere in the world that can track and send mining related stories to us here at the Mining Monitor. This is especially important if you have access to none mainstream, non web based news sources.
    5.   Other.. tell us how you can help improve mining projects, policy, law and practice.

On behalf of MPI and the Communities we help, we thank you for support!
